The Creamery

In 2014, space was secured for a new production facility: The Hop Ice Creamery.

Located on “Sweet Slope” (a stretch of Haywood Road featuring The Hop, Hole Doughnuts, and Short Street Cakes) the new space was just that – amazing space.

Space to store bulk, high quality products. Space to develop new recipes. Space to package pints. Space to load and unload from various events. Space to hold tours and parties. Space to organize, deliberate, and, with the direct involvement of production managers, Keely and Geoff, to create.

It was magnificent what a breath of space enabled.

The Hop continued to improve, striving to elevate its product, bringing in a consultant to look at its sustainability practices. With their help The Hop’s chocolate and coffee is fair trade and ethically sourced. All disposable goods are fully compostable, and efforts are made to be more sustainable.

The vegan, non-dairy flavors also benefited from the expansion. With new equipment and expertise from Hopster, Rose, The Hop began making all its own dairy free bases from scratch – starting with the grain, nut, or seed. Breaking from the traditional constraints of available vegan milk products, The Hop has created quinoa milk, pepita milk, cashew milk, rice milk, and peanut milk (just to name a few).
