Plant Based Waffle Cones

“Hey, The Hop! I recently heard that your homemade waffle cones are plant based and vegan friendly. Is that true?!?!?!?”

“Hello and thanks for asking! Yes, it is true!”

About 10 years ago Ashley - co-owner, creator, and baker - put forth a huge effort to improve the quality of The Hop’s offerings. There were many thrilling improvements during that time, such as adding an entire line of non-dairy ice cream, but, in general, the goal was to make as much as we could from scratch in house. She created recipes for hot fudge, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and, among other things, waffle cones.

Since then Ashley, and all of the Hopsters in production, have continued to make thrilling improvements to both front and back of house recipes. Those include homemade jams, sauces, toppings, and other fun inclusions for our dairy and vegan ice cream.

And in 2020, during the pandemic, Ashley became determined to create a plant based waffle cone recipe. The hope was to engineer a from-scratch cone that would be both delicious and accessible to a wider audience. After trial and error, and much taste-testing, the recipe came together.

Thus, it gives us great joy to announce that those plant-based, vegan-friendly waffle cones are now officially live at all locations of The Hop Ice Cream (including our Online Store)! And the best part? This exciting improvement means that more people get to enjoy what The Hop has to offer.

PS Our waffle cones contain gluten and coconut milk.
